1Students can choose to take 9 credits of research provided they have at least one published journal article. This reduces the coursework by one class (3 credits).

2ME 898 is a lower cost option for students who have completed their defense and still need to finish writing their thesis/paper. International students may not be eligible for this credit and should check with the International Office for guidance.

  •  In addition to the 30 credits of Master's coursework, students are required to enroll in the department's graduate seminar series, ME 790 (not exceeding three semesters).

Admission and Application Requirements

Graduate School admission and application requirements are found on the Admission Information page. In addition to these requirements, the following are also required:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

  • International students must provide language test scores such as Duolingo, TOEFL, or IELTS. Minimum requirements for admission consideration are 105 for Duolingo, 71 for TOEFL ibT, or 6.0 for IELTS score.

  • GRE general test score with a minimum of 300 (combined Quantitative and Verbal) with a minimum quantitative score of 155 is strongly recommended but is not required for international students.
