  1. Minimum of 120 semester credits (some programs may exceed this minimum).
  2. Complete the University General Education requirements.
  3. Minimum institutional GPA of 2.00 based on work taken at NDSU.
  4. Minimum of 30 credits in resident at NDSU.
  5. Minimum of 36 upper level credits (courses numbered 300 or higher).
  6. Students with transfer credit must meet the NDSU 30 credits in residence (#4). Of these 30 credits in residence, a minimum of 15 credits must be in courses numbered 300 or above, and 15 credits must be in the student's declared major curricula.

Degree Requirements and Notes:

  • A minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA is required for admission to the major, to enroll in 300-400 level courses, and to graduate.
  • All courses for the pre-major and major require a grade of C or better. 
  • Students follow the published curricula for the finance program of study from the semester/year of entrance in the College of Business to graduation provided enrollment at NDSU has not been discontinued for more than one year. Students who change their major are subject to meeting the curricular requirements in effect at the time the new major is declared. 
  • A letter grade must be earned in any course that fulfills a major requirement (with the exception of some cooperative education, practicum and internship options). Only three credits of FIN 397 will be allowed to fulfill the Finance Electives requirement, and only three credits of BUSN 413 will be allowed to fulfill 300-400 Level Electives requirement. 
  • A Business Administration minor cannot be taken with this major.
  • For multiple majors within the CoB, at least 15 unique credits of 300-400 level CoB courses must exist between the majors.
  • Up to three credits of FIN 491 can be used to satisfy finance electives.

    • 2Credits that do not qualify for degree completion will still be accepted as general credits towards graduation, within the restrictions defined by university policy.
